Easily Forgotten Spring Maintenance Tasks For Your BMW, Mercedes, and Hummer H1

Posted by: Brookside Admin

Springs warmer temperatures arriving means it's a good time to perform some routine, preventative maintenance on your BMW, Mercedes, and Hummer H1 at Benzin Motor Works. You'll definitely want to get your air conditioner checked out before temperatures in Tulsa become unbearable, and it's a good idea to have your vehicle's cooling system checked, as well. There are other, easily forgotten maintenance tasks that are just as important, however. Here's a rundown of what to consider ahead of your car's spring checkup.

Alignment and Suspension

Have you noticed that your car pulls to one side as you drive? Or, maybe the steering wheel vibrates. Both of these are signs that your alignment and suspension are due for an inspection. Over time, both get worn, and that process can be sped up by driving on rough terrain. That would include the potholes, cracks and bumps that are common throughout Tulsa's streets. Checking the alignment is a fairly quick process that can significantly improve your driving experience.

Oil and Fluids

You already know that your vehicle requires regular oil changes, but by performing these at the same time each year, it's easy to stay on track. As long as you don't take a long trip, or experience other driving lengths that are out of the ordinary, having regularly scheduled oil changes should be no problem. Additionally, there are a number of other fluids in your car that are worth your time to check out. Namely, your cooling system fluid, which will keep your car running as temperatures increase. Your brake fluid is also important, and you'll want to top off your window washing fluid ahead of spring showers. Finally, look into flushing transmission fluid. It's an easy one to forget, but doing so on the recommended schedule can save you from costly transmission repairs.

Rotate Tires

Msot experts recommend rotating your tires every five thousand miles. Neglecting to rotate your tires leads to the tread wearing unevenly, which leads to handling and performance issues. And, by rotating them, you may buy yourself a few more months, or even years, of life before you need to replace them. Additionally, checking your tires' air pressure is another maintenance task that's wise to perform at regular intervals. If it's been more than a month since you checked your car's tires, you're overdue. The ride, handling, traction and safety of your vehicle all rely on properly inflating your tires, and the pressure will naturally decrease over time even in healthy tires.

Brake Pads and Rotors

Since your brakes have such a significant impact on the safety of your vehicle and your passengers, it's a good idea to have them checked anytime you visit a mechanic. Pads wear out over time, so if it's been awhile since you've had them checked or replaced, you could be nearing the end of their lifespan. It's also wise to check the status of the brake rotors, as well.
